The timeline of my medical transition through the NHS (2012 - 2015)


Beginning of Feb 2012 
Referral sent by GP to Gender Identity Clinic (The Laurels)
2nd April 2012 - 
First psychotherapist appointment (followed by 2 more at 6 weeks apart as required to complete the Clinic's assessment process before starting hrt)
11th June 2012 - 
First appointment with the GIC Doctor to discuss hrt/testosterone
14th September 2012 -
GIC Doctor wrote to my GP requesting blood tests
5th October 2012 -
GIC Doctor wrote to my GP requesting me to start testosterone
10th October 2012 - 
First testosterone injection (Nebido)
18th December 2012 - 
Appointment with GIC Doctor to discuss chest surgery
27th December 2012 - 
GIC Doctor wrote to my PCT to request funding for chest surgery (note: Primary Care Trusts were abolished not too long after this so this step is no longer required)
21st March 2013 - 
Funding had been granted and GIC Doctor wrote to Professor Phil Drew (Surgeon closest to me) to provide me with chest surgery (funding didn't usually take that long but they misplaced my letter and I had to ring up and get them to go find it)
25th April 2013 - 
First chest surgery consultation
10th May 2013 - 
Chest surgery consult with Professor Drew's nurse to discuss nipples, aesthetic options etc
16th May 2013 - 
Final consult to confirm decisions and surgery date
22nd May 2013 - 
Pre op at the hospital with nurses
7th June 2013 - 
Chest surgery with Professor Phil Drew at St Michaels hospital in Hayle, Cornwall
28th October 2013 - 
Met with GIC Doctor who gave me my first go ahead for lower surgery (due to me now meeting the criteria of being 1 year on hrt) and he wrote to Dr Dan Hodgson to see me for my second opinion
12th February 2014 - 
Met with Dr Dan Hodgson, Consultant Psychiatrist, in Bristol for second opinion assessment
4th March 2014 - 
GIC Doctor wrote to Mr Nim Christopher of the lower surgery team (London Andrology) to see me for phalloplasty
28th May 2014 - 
Surgery consultation with Mr Christopher
8th September 2014 - 
First stage forearm phalloplasty with Mr Christopher 
28th March 2015 - 
Second stage phalloplasty surgery with Mr Christopher
28th September 2015 - 
Third/final stage of phalloplasty surgery with Mr Christopher
